About Dom...
I have been working on the radio for over 30 years. At the beginning i was reading the Traffic news from a small 5 seater airplane flying over East Anglia and London, from there I moved to Essex FM, working on Breakfast with Martin Day and Su Harrison on Breakfast and James Bassam on Drivetime.
After a decade at Essex FM/Heart I was offered my own Breakfast show at Dream 100 - I've also fronted Breakfast shows on Radio Essex, Town 102, Ipswich 102 and Actual radio. Most recently I've been working for BFBS, broadcasting around the world from Colchester and Gibraltar.
Over the years one of my favourite things to do has been hosting events... No matter how big or how small its an honour to be a host, a Compare or a master of ceremonies.
Back at Essex FM I hosted the 2 Smart Roadshow (An educational tour with live music and drama teaching school kids about the perils of antisocial behaviour) and most recently I have been the Roving MC at the UK's biggest BBQ festival - The Smoke and Fire Festival in Ascot and Essex.
My work has taken me all over the south east, hosting festivals (with acts like Mel C, McFly and Olly Murs), Award ceremonies, corporate events, and Christmas light switch ons, in front of audiences of anything from a hundred or so people up to around twenty thousand.
Through the radio shows, I have interviewed Hundreds of celebrities including musicians like Bryan Adams and Brian May, Hollywood stars like Colin Firth and Kristen Stewart, and Directors Baz Luhrmann and Oscar winner Danny Boyle.
Through my work on Air and within the community I have a special relationship with my audiences who say they feel at ease knowing they’ve had a connection with me over the years.
FUNERALS
My dad was a vicar. and growing up in a vicarage is a unusual and exciting life for a small boy- We always had people around to discuss their upcoming wedding or indeed the funeral of a loved one, so I saw first hand how important the work dad did and how he went about it.
Funerals/Life Celebrations are such a personal thing and must be adapted to the family and friends who are left behind, as well as upholding the wishes of those who have passed. That’s why I love my work- Talking to people and connecting with them, working with them to create something special is something I have always done through my work and in life. I always put people at ease, greet them as they come and go, and make them feel as important as possible.
